As a domestic worker, you will have to be a little more than just ordinary to bag a job. This is especially true if you are a resident of another country but would like to work for a family in the USA. Writing a cover letter to impress a family enough to grant you work is going to be a challenge. But it is actually through a cover letter that you will be chosen for an interview. Whether it is a company through which you are applying for a domestic worker position or answering a job advertisement directly from the family, your cover letter will be the deciding factor.

Cover letter writing for a domestic worker position is a little different from ordinary cover letter writing. Since you will be working in someone’s home – possibly living with them too – it is imperative that you show yourself to be the trustworthy and dependable person that you are. You will be responsible for people’s children and their house and no one would want to hire someone who has a previous DUI, for instance.

So write truthfully and make sure that you come across as someone who has integrity and can maintain confidentiality. Here is a sample cover letter for a domestic worker position that you will find helpful:

• Able to provide both geriatric and infant care, owing to a degree in nursing
• Proficient in handling domestic pets’ needs, including preparing food for them and walking them on a daily basis
• Inherent integrity aimed at ensuring confidentiality of family’s affairs

You have mentioned that you would like to “hire a live-in domestic worker” which suits me perfectly. I offer exceptional references and can send you copies of my reference letters if you require.
