There are a dozen and one ways to write a cover letter, but not all manners of cover letters have much to say to prospective employers.
The fact that a hiring manager actively looks for solid, relevant information in a cover letter should be reason enough for you to do some research on how to write one.
If your cover letter is nothing to write home about, it is an obvious failure. However, if you have managed to research what the company is all about, and how your contribution will help it, you cannot help but write a good cover letter.
Typically, hiring managers look for skills information in a cover letter. Yours should be able to edict skills, qualifications, competencies, and accomplishments. All this information will help him or her decide in your favor, but if you fail to address any of this, you may have to get back to the drawing board!
