Position Overview

Warranty coordinators are hired in all those companies that offer warranties on their products.

They are required to ensure that any incoming claims for warranty are investigated, verified, and then processed according to company protocols and procedures.

Position Requirements

To work as a warranty coordinator, one needs a high school diploma or a GED equivalent. College degrees are of course preferred, however not required. Strong organizational skills, along with a great ability to prioritize work, and handle multitasking is required if one wants to work as a warranty coordinator.

In addition to this, it is imperative for people working at this position to handle complex issues easily, and possess exceptional communication skills, as they have to be in touch with customers through most of their work days.

As a warranty coordinator, it is your responsibility to make sure that all incoming warranty requests are processed as they should be.

Company protocols and procedures are something that you will need to look into when you are working at this position, and you will have to be exceptionally patient.

Since you will primarily be working with customers, it is important for you to understand different personalities, and deal with them accordingly. Also, it is imperative that your research skills are above par, if you want to take up warranty coordination as a career.

 

Warranty Coordinator Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Review incoming requests for warranties, and investigate customers and their backgrounds.

• Verify incoming requests to ensure that they are valid, by thoroughly examining each claim.

• Look through customer profiles to determine their purchases and warranty timelines.

• Examine parts and products to determine if warranty claims are valid, ensuring that any damage or tampering is taken into account.

• Analyze warranty reports on a regular basis, ensuring that complaint details are properly looked into and documented.

• Summarize and analyze warranty claims and labor hour reports on a regular basis, aimed at ensuring that management review is done on time.

• Work with accounting personnel to request warranty charge numbers, and provide approvals for payments.

• Respond to customers’ queries and concerns regarding damaged products and valid warranty claims.

• Work with vendors and suppliers to determine the cause of product malfunction, focusing on ensuring that similar incidents do not transpire in the future.

• Work with engineering departments to determine viability of claims, and to provide a fix for each issue.
